About The Car Restorer

Our Story

Our founder David conjured up the idea of The Car Restorer in 2024 after making nearly 200 videos visiting classic car workshop across Melbourne. He noticed a distinct lack of younger people in the trades, and soon came to the conclusion something had to be done to address the problem.

The e-magazine will feature news, reviews, interviews and how tos, in written, photographic and video form highlighting the work of businesses and backyard builders, product manufacturers, developers and entrepreneurs associated with the industry from around the world.

Our Aim

Did you realise, in the UK alone, the classic car industry adds £14B to the economy each year, and In Australia $9B. And it's reckoned the US classic car market is estimated to be worth around $30 billion per annum, with around 46 million collector cars with a collective value of $1 trillion by insurance valuation.

With those figures, it's no wonder some say the classic car industry is the biggest cottage industry no-one has ever heard about.

That's a lot of dough that gets largely ignored. At it's core, The Car Restorer will be a lobbying voice for the industry to campaign not just to governments, but to parents, peers, teachers and careers advisers that there is a viable, longterm, enjoyable and rewarding career  working with classic cars.

We're also going to back the trades getting a fair deal from the customer. After all, you wouldn't negotiate with your plumber when he's fixed a leak, or the spark when he's replaced a burnt out circuit board. So why does the classic car owner feel justified in bemoaning the price of work done on their treasured classic by a 30-40 year experienced tradesperson?

Our Team

We're light of foot with just David on board at the moment, utilising a network of freelancers from Sydney to Santa Cruz.
